Our History
The Original Landscaper
on Long Beach Island, NJ
Bay Avenue Plant Company has deep roots in the Long Beach Island community. First established in the early 1990s as one of the area’s original garden centers, our business began on Bay Avenue in Manahawkin and quickly earned a reputation as a trusted destination for vibrant plant life and expert outdoor guidance.
Our family acquired the company in the early 2000s, and with that transition came a renewed vision: to grow into the premier provider of outdoor design services on the island. That dream took shape when we moved to Surf City, allowing us to better serve LBI residents with expanded offerings in landscape architecture and design, outdoor living, pools and spas, and beyond.
In 2010, Tom Scangarello Jr. and his wife Jessica joined the business, bringing with them a new generation of ideas, creativity, and commitment. Together, they’ve helped Bay Ave Plant Co. evolve into the island’s longest-running landscaping company—still family-owned, still deeply local, and still grounded in the values that make LBI such a special place to live.
